Hi friends! Yes, I know I'm a day late with this, but in my defense, I've had three new students this month (not through my personal business, but students nonetheless) and worked with two of them yesterday, so I got a bit busy. Apologies! This will hopefully not become a habit lol. In today's post, I thought I'd simply share some of the fun things that Peter and I have been up to this summer. We've been doing quite a lot, which has been great! There's still so much more to do though hehe.
Peter and I have been going to NYC a lot lately. First, we took our new pastor and his wife there on a Saturday because they hadn't been to the city before. We had such a great time (and walked a total of 9 miles!), especially because they encouraged us to show them things that were off the beaten path since they plan to do the touristy things on their own. We went to the Museum of Illusions and a pop-up exhibit called Ocean Cube. Both were really fun ventures! Then last week on Tuesday, I spent some time with a former student of mine (she was an 8th grader when I was her teacher, and now she's going off to college in the fall!) in the Dumbo area of Brooklyn, which neither of us had ever visited before. It's a really nice neighborhood, and I finally got to see Jane's Carousel in person (unfortunately, it was closed, so no horse-riding for me). Walking the Brooklyn Bridge to get there was pretty cool too. That evening, Peter and I had dinner with a friend of mine from elementary school then saw Hillsong United at Madison Square Garden. It was EPIC! Madison Square Garden is a great venue, and I'm really glad my first time there was to see Hillsong perform. Then on Sunday, we got to see Frozen on Broadway. It was pure magic, especially because we got front row seats!! I highly recommend it. I was enthralled the entire time lol.
Of course, there are other things we've done too! Some of Peter's cousins visited from Illinois and Indiana, so we had them over for a nice brunch and got to spend some time playing catch-up with them. We've continued to have our bi-monthly game nights with friends, as well as other game nights outside of those (we really can't get enough). We got to celebrate my grandma's 92nd birthday. I got to eat at the Cheesecake Factory and do some shopping with two of the girls from our youth group. We've also been watching season 3 of The Handmaid's Tale and we've watched season 3 of Stranger Things (duh). Tomorrow, we're finally headed to the beach. There's plenty more in store too, including a day of sailing, two double dates, a baby shower for my sister-in-law, brunch with our parents, my cousin's high school graduation party, a weekend with another cousin, and an all-nighter with our youth group! As you can see, we've been keeping busy all right. ; )
The highlight of the summer so far was making a new girlfriend recently. As you may recall, I don't have many girlfriends in Connecticut. There are three older ladies at church whom I've come to love dearly, and I have a friend about an hour away from me that I unfortunately don't get to see very often, and my two sisters-in-law are both fairly close by. I'm truly blessed to have all of them in my life, but they're the only ones. The rest of my friends are either Peter's friends or friends I share with Peter (to be clear, there's nothing wrong with that in the least, but it IS nice having some of my own friends too). Enter J. I met J through one of Peter's friends, and I'm forever grateful because I can tell she's going to be a forever friend. We have so much in common - it's insane! Right now, we're still at the beginning stages of our friendship, but we've been having a lot of fun. So far, we've watched a musical together and swum in her swimming pool, not to mention the many future play dates we have planned and the double date game night we have planned as well (Peter and I are always looking for more couple friends, so the fact that J is currently in a relationship is the cherry on top!). It's also really nice knowing that she's as excited about this budding friendship as I am. =D
Hope you're all having wonderful summers too!!
