100

Once again, I waited to write and publish this past week's blog post for a good reason. Just yesterday, I finished a program that consisted of 100 workouts. I started it at the beginning of October, and it has been a huge part of my life (specifically my mornings) since then. I was super determined to get them all done before Peter and I travel tomorrow (we're headed to Austin, TX to visit his brother, his brother's wife, and our two-week-old niece!!), so I'm glad I made it!

If you had asked me a year ago if I could commit to doing something as lengthy as this program, I would have scoffed.100 workouts?? That's a LOT to commit to! And I had no idea what the workouts consisted of, though I liked that they were all under 30 minutes (it's a series of videos specifically for people who workout from home, and you simply follow the different exercises demonstrated in them). After adopting a practice of exercising every day of the work week at the beginning of the year, though, I knew I wanted to keep up with it and I knew I wanted to be challenged. I don't just want to be healthy and active; I want to strengthen my body and see what it's capable of too, especially now that running is harder for me with my knees being the way they are (I blame it on four years of running in high school lol).

The workouts consisted of a variety of exercises, from yoga to martial arts, from cardio (UGH) to weightlifting. I loved the diversity of each workout, and I slowly started to see myself increase the number of reps I could do in a given sitting and increase the size of the weights I was lifting. My abs became more defined, as well as my biceps and bootay! It was hard work, and the sweat was absolutely gross, but it was so worth it.

Don't get me wrong - I'm TIRED. I feel like I could sleep for weeks, especially because of the days in the past two weeks when I chose to triple up on workouts (I normally doubled up and that was challenging as is). But I'm also super proud of myself right now. I came, I saw, and I conquered 100 workouts, quite literally, sometimes crumpling to the floor in a heap afterwards but finishing them nonetheless! I'm looking forward to taking a week off to simply stretch it out and give my body a much-needed rest before figuring out which workout program to tackle next.

My new year's resolution for 2019 was to commit to working out on a regular basis. To that, I say mission accomplished. =]
